Barnabas 1969

Barnabas 1969-recently completed...Jonathan Frid as Barnabas Collins from the original TV series "Dark Shadows"...this is the original MPC kit with the greatly improved Cult Of Personality Productions replacement head...not totally happy with the eyes but they look pretty good in person...didn't glue his head on in case I get a wild hair and decide to repaint them...the base is something I just blobbed out to set him on temporarily until he takes his final resting place on the big 10+ figure Vampire diorama I'm building....several pictures here under a variety of lighting conditions...MPC marketed the original kit as 1:8 scale, but in truth is more like 1:9 scale

Wall Of Shame-Amazon Prime

I don't rant often....but when I do, it's because I've been badly mishandled...Just an alert-for those of you wasting your money on Amazon prime accounts...the words GUARANTEED TWO DAY DELIVERY...mean absolutely nothing...they can't guarantee anything because they aren't in charge of the delivery...and if your stuff is four or five days later than the two days they've promised, that's your problem...glad I was only paying for Amazon Prime month to month...it made it much easier to cancel and I'm not stuck with having paid them a bunch of money up front...I've had much better luck with eBay...and I've always had things delivered by the "delivery by" date...I'm sticking with eBay...no monthly prime fee, everything is cheaper even with paid shipping, items arrive by the time promised... kind of a no brainier but I had to live and learn I guess...to sum up...Amazon sucks!

Customized Moebius Frankenstein

The Moebius Frankenstein display is complete...I've also included a link to a very short video so you can see the lights work...this is truly a "Frankenstein" model...with the inclusion of the original Moebius kit, a replacement head from Cult Of Personality Productions, elements from the Kustom Kit Krafters base extension, my own scratch-built base extension and a brown bag style paper mache steamer trunk that I customized for the display. I also chose and installed the lighting...I'm pretty tickled with how everything has turned out, and I really had a lot of fun with this! 1/8 scale..

See the "shocking" film here

Peter Cushing

The MPC Barnabas Collins model kit converted into Peter Cushing as Van Helsing figure is complete! I realize I didn't dot the eyes with a pupil...I eventually will as my confidence grows. It's tough for me to get the pupils right on figures of this size (BTW-they can advertise this kit as 1:8 scale until they are blue in the face...I own a RULER and I KNOW better...lol...it's actually somewhere between 1:9 scale and 1:10 scale). Also, the missing pupils are barely perceptible while viewing the kit in person, as the eyes are a much darker blue under normal lighting instead of the flash...the base is just a simple nothing I blobbed out of Sculpey and quickly stained so he would have somewhere to stand until he can take his rightful place on the base of my completed vampire diorama...and in his favorite situation, too...surrounded by vampires! Thanks to COPP for making the conversion parts readily available!

Bench Update 08/23/16

I've really been neglecting this blog for months...but I've been working pretty hard on some kits and scratch builds....first up...I've been working on a base extension for the Moebius Frankenstein kit...sort of a hallway that the monster is walking out of as he comes through the door...basically I made it from styrofoam....here's a few shots...
and here are a few painted shots and a few pics showing how it looks with the original base...well, partly the original base combined with another aftermarket base...

Also on the bench is an Aurora-style Hunchback Of Notre Dame with a replacement Lon Chaney head from COPP
I'm scratch building a custom pillory and base for him...I've also added body hair to better suggest the character as Lon Chaney played him...

 More updates coming soon!
